QuickBooks has an excellent support record in Australia, perhaps ahead of the other BIG players, offering phone, email and chat support. MYOB offers a high level of phone and other support (though not as timely as QuickBooks in my experience). Xero has a bit of a policy of not providing phone support (see this thread for example) but not everyone needs phone support in 2021 and overall Xero is great given their size and how quickly they can respond to online enquiries.
I’ve previously accused QuickBooks of price gouging in the Australian market (a major US player is looking at one-up Zero in its home market). I think there’s been a noticeable shift from that recently under the new CEO. They have increased their prices but are still undercutting Xero and MYOB on equivalent offers.
Reckon had very aggressive pricing at ReckonOne, with a modular approach and an entry point of just $8/month, but we’ve recently seen that change, and now the basic entry point for consumer billing is $20/month – all still cheap, but not too cheap.
Freshbooks and ZohoBooks seem like great values, but I don’t like how they use per-contact/customer pricing because even a small business can have tons of contacts.

I don’t believe MYOB is the best accounting software because they overprice their solutions for comparable functionality based on their long-standing brand goodwill and rusty customer base.
Zero’s pricing is in line with their market leadership and the premium proposition they offer. You’re unlikely to choose the Zero on price alone, although I believe it offers great value when all factors are considered.
I could go on and on about the many factors to consider when choosing small and micro business accounting software. The point is that the same names keep coming up.
I don’t think you can go too far wrong with any of the top 10 products. If you want to be in business for a while and grow over time, I suggest you look at the big players like Xero and QuickBooks. I think their products are already leading the market and they should provide even better solutions in the future of automation.
