Georgian Aviation University is the only aviation university located in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Aviation Institute of Georgia was established in 1992 as part of the Georgian Technical University. However, in 2005, the Aviation Institute separated from the Technical University and became the Independent Georgian Aviation University.
