The Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis prepares students with training in the learning and behavioral sciences and prepares them to work as Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to the study of behavior. Behavior analysts work directly with individuals to improve their social, educational, health, adaptive, and behavioral outcomes through program development based on ABA principles. Behavior Analysts are trained to describe behavior, explain, predict, and analyze occurrences and non-occurrences of behavior, and change behavior through program development based on ABA principles.

Through courses grounded in theory, with an emphasis on the application of theory to meaningful and effective social practice, the M.S. in ABA program provides students with an excellent foundation to meet the required competencies of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). BCBA provides services in mental health, education, and human services settings that may include collecting and analyzing data, writing and evaluating behavioral intervention plans, training others to implement elements of treatment plans, and overseeing the implementation of treatment plans. BCBAs are qualified to provide services to individuals with diverse needs including academic performance, skill deficits (eg, communication, adaptive behavior and functional skills), and behavioral problems (eg aggression, self-injurious behavior), and social interaction. BCBAs also provide supervision to Certified Behavior Analyst Assistants (BCaBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).

The program typically takes between 1.5 to 2.5 calendar years to complete, depending on the course load each semester. Students can attend the program full-time or part-time. Evening classes are available.
