Nursing (professional Practice) (top Up) Bsc Honours
You will learn a range of basic nursing skills and techniques to effectively care for adult patients in a variety of healthcare settings. Solving problems and making critical decisions will become a matter of course and you will gain the confidence to work together in teams; ensure you can effectively assess, plan and implement adult care.
You will develop a thorough understanding of the ongoing development of nursing as a profession and be confident of contributing to the debate about the future.
You will be an independent, self-motivated doctor, able to reflect on your practice and adopt a critical and analytical approach to the care of adult patients.
Electives are usually available at Levels 5 and 6, although not all courses offer electives. If optional modules are available, you will be asked to choose in the previous academic year. If we do not have a sufficient number of students interested in an optional module, or personnel changes affect teaching, it may not be offered. If the optional module does not run, after the module selection period, when the number is determined, or first the program team decides not to run the module, we will advise you and help you choose another model.

Carol Graves is an associate professor of adult nursing. She is particularly interested in how best to facilitate and develop the education of healthcare assistants in practice with the aim of expanding participation and overall workforce development. He is also involved in providing training to pre-registration and post-registration nurses with a special interest in medication calculation.
