If you’re tired of bare bathroom walls, fill them with framed art, like designer Alexander Reed did in this room. Buy inexpensive picture frames from places like thrift stores, HomeGoods, and Facebook Marketplace. Take pages from a coffee table book you already own or invest in a new book and fill the frame with art.

Get inspired by this bathroom designed by Toledo Geller. If you have simple built-in cabinets, use wallpaper to fill the surface of its leaves. If you’re an artist, you can even paint the design directly onto the cabinets for a unique touch.
A vase filled with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers can instantly enhance the luxurious feel of your bathroom. Simply copy Lucy Harris’s bathroom design with flowers next to the tiles and art on floating shelves. If you want your makeup to last longer, opt for fake makeup.
The next time you think about getting rid of or selling your furniture, bring it to the bathroom. For example, you could eliminate built-in shelves and use cabinets to create more storage space. Both traditional and whimsical, this unexpected item will make your bathroom cozy. It’s especially unique when paired with Fornasetti’s cloud-print wallpaper and modern armchairs, as in this bathroom designed by Arent & Pike.

Nothing delivers luxury like a full towel display. All the linen closets in this bathroom by Hecker Guthrie are to shame. Of course, flowers and flat mirrors will enhance this effect.
The brass elements add “a touch of luxury and a nod to old styles,” designer Shari Francis says of this cosmetically enhanced bathroom. Is there a simple but cheap way to do this? Includes brass hardware. If you don’t have a faucet or mirror, use a brass soap dispenser, a tissue box, a toothbrush holder, or even a set of hardware to hang towels and clothes.
Enjoying a bubble bath? Place a small table next to the tub, like designer Elizabeth Georgantas does. A small wooden chair or side table not only adds a luxurious feel to your room, but is also perfect for holding a glass of wine, a book, a speaker or a candle.

Add a tree in the corner for a sublime update with huge transformative power. As seen in this bathroom designed by 2LG Studio, palm trees really bring it to life.
Picking one color and sticking with it can make things easier, and the tonal look will pop and be visually appealing (if not).
— if you’re looking for something as simple as white). This bathroom was designed by Leanne Ford Interiors and even the faucets are painted white.

One of the only ways to bring warmth to the interior of a bathroom that is not expensive is to use an area rug. It’s also a fun way to add color, print, and texture. Flags and neon fixtures are the perfect addition to this marble-dominated bathroom by Regan Baker Design. Bath text will also work.
Always remember that extra storage space is your friend in the bathroom where you want to store your junk. Interesting hardware, like the Hecker Guthrie gold handles that span the space, make the cabinets look more expensive. Instead of installing a custom marble countertop, you can purchase affordable marble countertops to place your items on.
If you can’t afford to renovate your bathroom, focus on small touches that will enhance it. It may not be possible to spend thousands of dollars on a new marble sink, but a quality soap can do more for your guests than you imagine, and for a fraction of the cost. Aesop is always a good choice, like in this bathroom by Arent & Pyke.

This bathroom by Hecker Guthrie proves you don’t need a big room to make an impact, especially when plants are involved. Love plants but can’t keep them alive, or think plants that eventually die are worthless? In fact, some fake plants and leaves don’t look entirely fake, whether you place them in a vase or display a bouquet.
Adding a touch of metallic accents can make a bathroom look more interesting and sophisticated. Even something as unusual as a carriage or soap dish will work, but we’re partial to this round stool in Lynn Ford’s bathroom.
Even something as simple as hanging your shirt can have a big impact. As Arent & Pyke designed this bathroom, it makes the space feel like a spa. An Art Deco-style area rug also tones down the blues while introducing pops of pattern and coral.

Lynne Ford is a master at restoring old items and making them look like new again, such as bathroom shelves, mirrors and antiques. A school-inspired color palette creates a vintage look, while fresh white paint and a giant dome pendant complete everything.
Not only is it a good idea to prevent wallpaper from overflowing, but you can also cut the cost in half if you buy enough wallpaper to cover half a square meter. The white tiles in this bathroom by Arent & Pyke keep it fresh, while the wallpaper adds even more character.
Design firm Alexander DB softened the large factory windows and thick concrete floors in this industrial space with plush rugs and striped towels. Although they are definitely bohemian, they suit modern black bathrooms and wardrobes because they stay within a monochromatic palette.

Zoom in on your walls and use them as canvases for collage projects. Consider old advertisements and magazine articles as well as some records for comparison. Vintage magazine clippings bring a vintage feel to the tiles in this bathroom designed by Leanne Ford.

However, it’s not worth spending a lot of money as the upgrades are purely cosmetic.
My experience is that nine times out of ten it’s worth a reasonable upgrade. You’re more likely to get your money back when you sell because the building upgrades are so desirable and you can enjoy those improvements while living in it.
