“This ranking reflects the commitment of our faculty to students, the beautiful facilities on campus and the school’s location,” said Dr. Charles Tilburg, chair of the Ocean Program Academy. “Whether it’s our marine affairs students cleaning up the coast, or our marine science students conducting their own research, our location and facilities allow our students to gain authentic experience in the marine environment.”

The College Major Is Not Destiny

“Being by the sea is not only beautiful, but offers many opportunities for experiential learning,” Abigail Hayne (Marine Science, ’19) was quoted by the magazine. “I also like the small size of the school. Compared to larger public schools, my class sizes are very small, which allows me to get to know my professors very well.

The journal also draws attention to marine research, which offers student scholarships, research grants, projects and programs in the specialization of the student’s choice. The Marine Project Academy also works with several exciting marine organizations and companies, such as the U.S. Naval Academy and Maine’s Office of North Atlantic Development.
