Educators are professionals skilled in teaching and advocating for children and families. We support early childhood teachers to maintain their rightful positions as public intellectuals.

Guided by a faculty of teachers with a long commitment to inquiry and social justice, we prepare educators to teach and support young children in a variety of settings from preschools, elementary schools, homes and community centers. Located in the context of New York City, we are committed to equality and inclusion at the intersection of race, gender, class, disability, nationality and language. Our program prepares future teachers, policy makers, and educational leaders to actively lead on justice issues related to curriculum development, pedagogy, and institutional change. Offering an early childhood certificate from Birth to Grade 2, we focus on children’s innate abilities to interact with materials, each other, the world and adults in creative and imaginative ways. The basis of this concept is the understanding of childhood from the youngest to the oldest as it is the center of teaching, learning and development. The Early Childhood Education Certificate is designed to prepare you for a career as a teacher, teacher assistant, or administrator in early childhood programs, including center-based child care, preschools, and Head Start programs. The program provides basic knowledge of child development, early childhood professional standards, program and curriculum planning and administration, and leadership and assessment techniques.

Our Early Childhood Education program is the only one in Wyoming that offers core courses entirely online over eight weeks. The college’s program is one of two programs in Wyoming to offer a Development Associate degree, which requires a National Board Exam.

Our Early Childhood Education program is accredited by the Wyoming Association of Child Development and Early Childhood Training.

Career opportunities are plentiful, as early childhood education graduates are in high demand. Many students who earn an Early Childhood Education degree pursue a bachelor’s degree in education, which allows them to teach and work in a variety of educational settings. Early Childhood Education And Education

Our ECE program focuses on applying research-based theories to practical experiences that encourage the learning, growth, and development of young children.

Upon graduation from this program, you will be eligible to register as a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), which is required to practice in the province of Ontario. Graduates can also continue their studies and graduate studies through Sheridan’s Bachelor of Early Childhood Program or at other universities in Canada or abroad.

The ECE program offers course registration, which allows you to create your own schedule (based on course availability) by choosing the days/times that work best for you. You can choose to take the course full-time or study part-time during the day or evening.

Please note that the courses offered in the part-time option are the same as those in the full-time option, and the graduation requirements are the same. However, it will take you longer to complete a degree part-time and there may be financial implications to consider.
