While students are not required to formally declare their history (and it is not stated in Albert or on their diploma or transcript), they must choose the path they want to follow before embarking on The Beat and Advanced Reporting.
All directions must be double. Our department has no restrictions on the second field of study, but you are usually limited to the fields offered at your home school/university. (For example, if you’re in the College of Arts and Sciences, you should choose from over 60 majors offered at CAS.) If you have additional questions about options for another major, please consult your home school/university academic adviser.

The minor print and online consists of 5 courses, including two core courses and three electives. Students begin with a journalistic survey: the written word (JOUR-UA 101), followed by the printed part of The Beat (JOUR-UA 201). In addition to these two core courses, students choose 3 electives.

Students begin by airing a Journalistic Investigation: The Written Word (JOUR-UA 101), followed by a Journalistic Investigation: Multimedia (JOUR-UA 102) and The Beat (JOUR-UA 201).
