Colleges With Forensic Science Degrees – At the University of Saint Rose, the science major combines a broad background in the sciences – including chemistry, biology and physics, as well as studies in related subjects such as evidence, analysis and judgment.
The forensic science department has extensive knowledge in the field, giving students access to the latest research as well as real-life applications in criminal investigations once they earn a bachelor’s degree in forensic science.
Colleges With Forensic Science Degrees
Saint Rose students have interned at the New York State Police Bureau of Investigation, the Office of the Attorney General, and several regional laboratories and areas.
Best Forensic Science Degree Colleges In The U.s.
A partnership with the New York State Police Crime Laboratory System gives Saint Rose students a real-world view of forensic science through workshops and facility tours.
Teachers conduct both lectures and experiments, increasing contact time between students and professors. The rigorous program prepares students for postgraduate studies as well as future careers in investigating and helping to solve crime issues using state-of-the-art techniques.
A bachelor’s degree in forensics can be the foundation for becoming a forensic scientist. A forensic science degree prepares graduates to become forensic specialists who often work at crime scenes collecting evidence or in a crime lab. Forensic scientists will examine hair, fibers, DNA, and a host of other physical evidence to help law enforcement solve crimes.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for medical examiners is expected to grow 18% between 2020 and 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. The average salary for academics in New York City is $81,370, which is the area’s highest salary in the country.
Applied Science (specialising In Analytical & Forensic Science) Level 3
Saint Rose prides itself on offering graduate programs that prepare students for the rigors of continuing education. Forensic science majors can continue their education at a graduate school, such as law school, or continue their forensic studies by obtaining a master’s or doctorate. .

Also known as the FIC School, the Research Internship Program provides Saint Rose undergraduate students with a unique opportunity to meet and learn directly from industry experts. The partnership encourages forensics students to find mentors and learn what a career in forensics is all about, and provides them with a tour of the NYSP Forensic Investigation Center in Albany.
A very active student organization (Natural Science Association, NSA) and our alumni association, Doctors’ Guild, provide opportunities for students to share knowledge and exchange ideas, while fostering relationships with professionals and students.
Cold Case Analysis Center Selected students have the opportunity to work with our clinical advisors and work on real cold cases in our Cold Case Analysis Center. Check out the cool case
WGY and iHeartRadio’s investigative podcast discusses the news of Upstate NY’s unsolved crimes, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control at the College of Saint Rose.
Why Study Forensic Science?
The Forensic Science specialization will provide students with the basic knowledge needed to obtain entry-level jobs in forensic laboratories or to obtain a degree in one of many fields of study, in particular forensic science. This major is multi-disciplinary, with a mix of chemistry and biology that provides students with both the depth and breadth necessary to build a strong scientific foundation for their careers.
Our teachers are great scientists, but your success is most important. Unlike large research schools, Saint Rose is a place where professors invest in their students and put their energy into teaching, making classes fun and rewarding.
My research interests are broad in the field of analytical chemistry, including environmental chemistry, food chemistry and forensic chemistry. When working with students as part of my research, I like to find out what their interests are and together we create useful research about those interests. My students regularly present research papers at the Saint Rose Research Symposium, and some students have presented papers at the American Chemical Society Research Symposium and the Sigma Xi launch ceremony.
My scientific interests include mathematics and theoretical chemistry. I use molecular dynamics simulation to study the properties of various aqueous solutions and interactions at the atomic/molecular level. I have published in many peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and regional meetings of the American Chemical Society.

I like to involve motivated students in my research projects. These students presented their findings at the Graduate Research Conference at the College of Saint Rose, as well as at meetings of the American Chemical Society chapter in East New York and the Sigma Xi chapter in Albany.
My research alternated between plant physiology and ecology, with a focus on terrestrial plants. I am generally interested in the protection of woody plants, especially through planting, with a better understanding of difficult species such as oaks, willows, blackberries and hawthorns.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Clark University, where I was exposed to academic research for the first time under the guidance of an inspiring and supportive group. This experience made me want a job where I could also teach and train students. After several years of work as a specialist in oncology diagnostics, I graduated from the UMass Medical School and obtained a PhD. in biomedical sciences.
As a result of my experience, I am interested in how environmental changes affect microbial growth and physiology. I have taught and mentored undergraduate and graduate students and have found that research and teaching are best done together. I am also involved in science outreach and social communication and enjoy finding ways to incorporate science communication into the classroom.

My education is diverse. Now I want to know how bacteria respond to environmental stress. I worked in laboratories dealing with the reproduction and development of teleosts, adipogenesis in cell lines and ischemic reperfusion in mammalian lungs. Students in my lab are currently determining the physiological effects of carbaryl toxin on zebrafish development.
I teach organic chemistry in the first and second semesters, lectures and laboratory and advanced classes in organic chemistry. In addition to chemical products, I also teach chemical chemistry classes. I involved my students in research on the synthesis of heterocyclic organic molecules by transition metal catalyzed C-H oxidative amination.
Two Saint Rose students received summer research grants to work on these projects. My science students also presented posters for their undergraduate research projects here at the College of Saint Rose, at the annual meeting of the Sigma Xi chapter in Albany, and at the annual undergraduate meeting of the Eastern New York Section of the American Chemical Society.
My research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of the precerebellar system. This important system is located in the brain and works to maintain balance, posture, and motor control by sending information from the central nervous system to the cerebellum. I am also focusing on understanding how exposure to teratogens such as alcohol during pregnancy affects the development of precerebellar neurons.

I gained leadership experience by serving 23 years as an officer in the United States Army from lieutenant to lieutenant colonel. As a military physicist, I worked at the Military Research Laboratory designing and testing leaf and ground detection radars.
I attended several workshops on new strategies to improve student performance and understanding in undergraduate physics courses, including peer tutoring, physics workshops, and studio physics. I use physics research to enrich my classroom presentations and am open to working on any physics problem a student is interested in exploring.
My teaching interests include genetics, cell disease, structural biology, human heredity, and my research interests include immunotherapy in our environment, human behavior affected by androgen sensitivity, and HIV protection in humans.
Classes are small and full of experts, and their recommendations gave me the support and confidence I needed to pursue my career. “
