Nymö lampshades are available in a variety of sizes, from 9 inches for table lamps to 23 inches for hanging as pendants (as shown in the first photo at the top of this article). It comes in four colors: black, white, blue and green.
Plain packaging is IKEA style. There is some damage to the outside of the box, but the inside is in good condition.

I actually don’t mind the shade being solid at all. I actually like this one the best because you can take it apart if you move; So you save packaging space! The lampshade has been collected.

Despite these cryptic instructions, the lampshade is incredibly easy to assemble. There are clips on each edge of the roller blinds. Just attach them to two metal circular frames. Then close it with Velcro. Although the instructions indicate two people working together, I was able to complete this little shade alone.

I have been trying this shade for about a month now. Pros: Very nice! Easy to assemble! The price is quite reasonable. The 13-inch size shown is $24.99. The large 23-inch necklace costs $39.99. The fabric on the lampshade (made of polyester) has a nice texture. It doesn’t look cheap and it doesn’t feel cheap.
But I returned it with a heavy heart. You see, I needed something that would let lots of light into my office. However, Nymö’s color is too dark for my needs. It just blocks too much light. I even tried switching to brighter bulbs but that didn’t seem to work. It might work better as a chandelier hanging above the table, but it doesn’t suit me as a floor lamp that serves to illuminate the room where I read and work.
Update December 10, 2017 – I’m trying to get better at making ethical purchasing decisions, so I update my posts with information about where and how products are made. I don’t remember where this product was made, but for its value, IKEA was designated an ethical company by the Ethisphere Institute in 2010.

6/4/23 – After more than five years, I discovered that the lampshade on my floor lamp was broken again. (This time it was a glass lampshade. Oops!) After shopping, I went back to IKEA and bought a 9-inch Nymö lampshade. It only comes in black, looks more like a dark brown to me.
9″ Nymö Lampshade – $29.99. Even though the light is on the right, I think it’s a little hard to tell since this photo was taken during the day.
By 2023, the options become even fewer. IKEA no longer offers green or blue. You can only choose between white or black. And there’s only one pattern: this one with pleats and polka dots that reminds me of breasts. Prices have also increased significantly. Hello inflation? 9-inch lampshade, originally $20, now $29.99. The 13-inch size I previously tried was $24.99 and is now $37.99.

These days, I’m using larger, brighter LED bulbs designed for reflectors, so I don’t have the problems I had with my previous lampshades.
Honestly, the lampshade’s luxurious, shiny gold interior doesn’t quite match the silvery satin finish of this discontinued IKEA floor lamp. But I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
