Enrollment for full-time study is expected by most of our MSc research students, referred to as FTE (full-time equivalent) study in the timeline below. A small number of part-time students can be admitted to the MSc by research in experimental science. If you apply for admission to a part-time course you will need to demonstrate that the proposed research topic is suitable for part-time study and that the supervisor agrees with the part-time schedule.

Part-time study is expected to be at 50% of the intensity of full-time study, so all time scales below refer to full-time equivalent study (FTE) usually double for students who is pursuing a part-time MSc by Research program. As a part-time student you will need to attend classes, conferences, supervisory meetings and other commitments at Ford for at least 30 days each year. There will be some flexibility in the date and format of attendance, which will be determined by mutual agreement with your supervisor. You will be required to attend training sessions on scheduled dates within a period as determined by the Department.

The allocation of graduate supervision for this course is the responsibility of the Department of Experimental Psychology and it is not always possible to accommodate the preferences of prospective graduate students to work with a specific member of staff. In special circumstances a supervisor may be found outside the Department of Psychology.

Students usually meet with their primary supervisor every two weeks and at least once with their secondary supervisor.
