Portfolio review ensures that you have grasped the key knowledge from entry-level classes and are ready to move on to more advanced subjects. After a typical course load, you can expect your portfolio to be reviewed in the second semester of the graphics program. You must pass the exam to continue your course and complete your degree.
To participate in the portfolio review, you must be a pre-graphics major with at least a 2.50 overall GPA and a minimum grade of C in required courses.
Graduate graphics graduates in the spring or fall semester have the opportunity to create and share their final thesis projects with the community college. This year-long process begins with 4361W, the Senior Thesis and Writing, where you will work on the research portion of your project. Next semester you will take 4362: Senior Thesis and an exhibition display inspired by your thesis. The illustration program at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) takes place in a collaborative environment where students work with peers from all majors. Leading to a BFA, the Illustration program consists of core required courses, core studies, studio electives, and humanities and science subjects. All MCAD Illustration students are eligible for an internship, which provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable skills and hands-on experience in a specific career field.
