Graphic design is a visual form that communicates ideas or information through art, words, and technology. A graphic designer uses text, color, logos, images, and graphics to create images used by advertising agencies, publishers, design studios, printers, newspapers, magazines, corporate art departments, desktop publishing, multimedia presentations, and websites. A graphic designer can use typography, visual arts, and page layout techniques to achieve the final result.

Common uses of graphic design include magazine, advertising, product packaging, and web design. For example, product packaging may include logos or other artwork, organized text, and clean design elements such as shapes and colors that unify the product. Composition is one of the most important aspects of graphic design, especially when using pre-existing materials or different elements.

The Platt Institute School of Graphic Design’s Bachelor of Visual Communication degree will help you build the skills you need to start an exciting new career and pursue a career in 2D printing.
