In addition, the carpet was 20 years old, had many stains, and the windows and doors needed replacing.
Basement Design & Organization Ideas
In the last three years we have renovated the whole room. We have completed every budget project!
A few years ago I documented modern ideas for my farmhouse family room in this interim update. But let’s take a look at all the projects I’ve completed to get to where I am today!
If you can’t do anything else, at least refresh with paint. Even if you’ve just painted the walls, painting is one basement renovation you can complete!
Small Basement Ideas That Suit Any Space
Since basements typically have little natural light, light paint colors can help brighten a dungeon-like basement. Conversely, you can create a very cozy and moody basement with dark paint colors. It all depends on the look and atmosphere you are trying to achieve.
Then, add lots of character and features with wall molding. There are many different options for wall molding designs and most are very budget friendly.
I chose a modern wall molding design that I made using simple decorative details.

I designed it so that the central molding would highlight the artwork, adding interest to the rest of the wall without adding to the art. It helps to reduce decorating costs by making the entire wall and design the focal point of the design.
Once the walls are finished, your budget-friendly idea is to make sure the furniture is right for the space. You may need to invest in some new pieces to fit the size of the room, but in general, most basements can accommodate standard-sized furniture.
Make sure the table is in a flow, entry and focal point of the room (such as a fireplace or family room TV). Playing around with furniture layouts is the easiest way to transform a space without spending a fortune.

And finally, you can make a great impression with good lighting in the basement family room. Just as paint can illuminate a space with natural light, so can different light sources. If additional lighting is lacking, add sconces, sconces, or lamps to illuminate the space to your liking.

Let’s look at these grass baskets first. Available in three sizes. Perfect for storing and organizing larger toys. The medium size is perfect for blankets, and the smaller size holds books nicely. It would also make a beautiful cover for flowers in a vase.
Next, let’s take a look at the coffee table decor I chose. The Lera vase is of quality and character, beautifully crafted. This would be great on a shelf, or as my favorite realistic tulip flower.

Mango candle is a very versatile wood tone that will suit any decor style. I pair them with my favorite battery operated candles for coffee table decorations that can be “lit” anytime.
Now let’s move on to comfort items. These three throw pillows work together. They are not very similar, but work together to create a purposeful look.
In addition, the color scheme is suitable for many different styles of houses. A black and white blanket will pair with any color palette!

Basement Layouts And Plans
Whether you want to create an entertainment room, a home office, or a home for your growing family, finishing a basement is a smart decision. In this post, we will highlight some of the benefits of a finished basement and some great design ideas!
Unfinished basement has walls and open ceiling. An unfinished space feels cold and sterile, and it’s hard to imagine living there. But when finished properly, your basement can become an extension of your living space. This process includes addressing moisture issues, including insulation, framing, drywall, electrical and plumbing.
Depending on your needs and available space, you can create a fully functional area for your family. You can even include a kitchen and bathroom, turning the useless space below into a basement apartment.
Unfinished Basement Ideas For Making The Space Look And Feel Good
With a functional space with all the necessary furniture, it can even be a separate apartment within your home. Basement apartments are ideal for elderly parents and their spouses or teenagers looking for an apartment. You can turn it into a rental property and provide additional income for your family. Don’t forget the convenience it brings to your family. You can turn the basement into an entertainment room and spend quality time together.
A finished basement will also increase the resale value of the home, making it a good investment. This extra square footage will make your home more attractive to potential buyers.
A basement is a space that can be customized to your specific needs. Don’t worry if you don’t know where to start – we’ve got plenty of design inspiration!
Design A Basement Apartment
If your living room is small and cannot accommodate the whole family, a basement entertainment room is an ideal choice. Create amenities for every member of the family, such as pool tables, playgrounds, and media equipment.
If you dream of having a big theater in your home, this is your chance to make your dream come true. With a big screen and comfortable seating, your movie is ready for movie nights with your friends. This smart and space-saving design even includes a bar.
Working from home is not always easy. Converting a basement into a home office allows you to enjoy a private space dedicated to work.
Inspiring Basement Living Room Designs
Let’s say you like to hang out with friends at home. In this case, a wine cellar may be the ideal choice for you. Show off your best wine selection and don’t forget to add a delicious table.
The fully furnished basement apartment has a bathroom, kitchen and can be used for various purposes. Whether you want to create a rental apartment, in-laws, guest room, this space has all the necessary equipment.
