The Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis prepares students with training in the learning and behavioral sciences and prepares them to work as Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific method of studying behavior. Behavior analysts work directly with individuals to improve their social, educational, health, adaptive skills and behavioral outcomes by developing a program based on ABA principles. Behavior analysts are trained to describe behavior, describe, predict, and analyze behavior and what does not occur, and to change behavior by developing a program based on ABA principles.

Using courses that are firmly grounded in theory, with an emphasis on the application of theory to critical social and practical practice, the M.S. in the ABA program provides an excellent foundation for students to meet the skills mandated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). BCBAs provide services within the mental health, education, and human services context that may include collecting and analyzing data, writing and evaluating behavioral intervention plans, training others to implement elements of treatment plans, and overseeing the implementation of treatment plans. BCBAs are qualified to provide services to individuals with a variety of needs such as academic performance, deficits in skills (e.g., communication, adaptive behavior and work skills), and problem behavior (e.g. violence, delinquency), and social interaction. BCBAs also provide supervision to Board Certified Assistant Analysts (BCaBA) and Registered Behavior Therapists (RBT).
