Master Of Arts In Teaching Secondary Education – State University’s Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education (MAT) is a graduate-level program that prepares teacher candidates for first-time licensure in Ohio and many other states.
This program accepts applicants interested in teaching language arts, math, science, and social studies in grades 7-12. The program also prepares multi-age (PK-12) teachers in the arts, dance, foreign language, music, and health fields. This program offers two tracks. One is an accelerated 11-month program and the other is a 2-year part-time program. Both are partially online. The MAT program is offered to recent graduate undergraduate and graduate students, as well as career change professionals who are currently aspiring to become teachers.

MAT program courses begin in the summer. The annual application deadline is January 15. Please note that initial contact with the program is a content assessment to determine the required content area curriculum required for licensure, which is taken at the undergraduate level. Campbellsville University’s Master of Secondary Education program is designed for those transitioning into a career in education who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in a related field. This program provides the skills necessary to work with a diverse group of learners, apply effective teaching methods, and understand topics related to student growth and development. You will receive the certification you need to teach your chosen subject while learning about the modern trends of evolving education.
This program teaches the cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth of children and adolescents. a variety of educational approaches, resources and comprehensive curricula to support student learning for literacy; The practical skills of student evaluation needed for classroom curriculum planning. MAT. The degree also covers research methods and procedures used in teaching, effective management skills, and the needs and characteristics of diverse populations.
Graduate practice/seminars are required for the degree. This course provides the opportunity to apply best teaching practices in a field-based environment through peer cognitive coaching. Students in the traditional track must complete 16 weeks of instruction.

The program’s faculty incorporates real-world experience into the curriculum. Campbellsville University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Campbellsville’s educational programs are accredited by the Commission on Educator Preparation and Accreditation (CAEP) and approved by the Kentucky Board of Education Professionals Standards for Teacher Education and Certification (EPSB). The Master of Secondary Education program consists of 30 hours for Option 6 students and 36 hours for traditional students. Traditional students require 16 weeks of student instruction, while Option 6 students take field trips in their own classrooms under the supervision of a designated mentor. You can choose from four tracks: English, Math, Science and Social Studies.

Master of Education (5-9) costs $310 per credit. To help students pay the cost of education, Campbellsville University faculty and staff can work with students to find available financial aid options.
