This Course Statement Form will help you align your degree (and other qualifications if applicable) with the Board of Education requirements for the course. You must meet the requirements for at least one curriculum subject to be eligible to register as a teacher after completing your Professional Master of Education (PME). Persons applying to enter the PME must complete, print and sign the declaration form online. You must complete a course registration form for each course for which you wish to register with the Education Council. Curricular subject requirements are listed on page 2. Material errors or misleading statements in this form may lead to the withdrawal (offer) of the seat by the PME Provider or other actions that the PME Provider deems appropriate. If you are offered a place on PME, and subject to the consent you have given below, this claim form will be forwarded to the Teaching Council, the professional standard for teaching in Ireland, who will inform you if you meet the registration requirements in the registration of the Teacher Council. 2 Page 2 of 9 In order to meet the requirements for enrollment as stated in the Regulations [enrollment] of the Board of Education relating to the curriculum, the candidate must meet all of the following criteria: 1 (a) Applicants must have a degree – level of qualification , with studies up to and including level third year or higher (or modular equivalent). (b) The qualifying degree must be equivalent to at least level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and with a minimum score of 1 on all subject-related examinations. (c) The qualifying diploma must contain at least 180 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits (or equivalent) with special study consisting of at least 90 ECTS credits (or equivalent) and with not less than 10 ECTS credits ( or equivalent) studied at third year level or higher (or modular equivalent). 2 Study during the degree must demonstrate that the holder has acquired sufficient knowledge, skills and understanding to teach Curriculum 2 at the highest level in post-primary education (see (a) To meet this requirement, the degree must include the study of all to at least 60 ECTS credits (or equivalent): i Adventure activities ii Water sports iii Athletics iv Dance v Games vi Gymnastics vii Health-related activities (b) The study must include the study of all of the following to at least 30 ECTS credits (or equivalent): i.Anatomical, physiological and biomechanical aspects of movement ii.Factors that (personal, biological, psychological, sociological, environmental) hinder and encourage participation in physical activity and sport iii Disability and movement iv Historical, sociological and philosophical aspects v Growth, motor skill learning and development of children and adolescents vi Physical activity/promoted ring of sports and health throughout life vii Artistic and creative ive study. 3 Applicants must also have completed post-primary initial teacher training (age category) in which theory, methodology and educational practice are central. This course must be equivalent to a minimum of 120 ECTS credits (or equivalent) 3, 4.1 including adequate compensation. 2 as approved by the Minister of Education and Skills and published by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). 3 Applicants who have started an initial teacher training program with a value of less than 120 ECTS credits before 1 September 2014 can be exempted by decision of the Council. 4 Applicants who have completed specialist parallel studies must meet all the above requirements. This course must be equivalent to at least 240 ECTS credits.
