Our ALA-accredited degree program in library and information science offers students the opportunity to customize their degree by focusing their studies in archives, school library, information science and technology, and information heritage or by developing skills in specific areas. choose courses from a curriculum “track” related to information organization, management and leadership, security management, records and information services, and youth services.

Students may also choose to pursue a dual degree program that allows for the completion of two master’s degrees at the same time. SLIS offers two dual degree programs in addition to the MS: a master’s degree in archival science (MS) and history (MA) and a master’s degree in library and information science (MS) and children’s literature (MA).

Students can tailor their degree to suit their interests and academic interests by choosing courses from a robust library of electives. Like all MS students, DYO students must complete nine credit hours (three courses) of courses in information systems, information services and technology.
