In service of developing well-prepared, skilled, and disciplined counselors, Gwynedd Mercy’s counseling program is committed to providing a strong academic foundation along with excellent clinical training. We are committed to preparing graduates who can not only work successfully as consultants, but who can transform their lives into service and advocacy.

We believe that awareness and respect for others are both important characteristics of an effective, ethical counselor. Understanding one’s social and cultural background, exploring different perspectives, learning to engage in meaningful conversations about difference, and fostering the mental well-being that a more just society provides are all important components of counselor education.

Gwynedd College is passionate about the counseling field and believes in the importance of a strong professional identity. In today’s fast-paced, demanding world, we also recognize the value of community and are constantly looking for ways to connect with our students. Students are therefore assigned an advisor who will serve as a personal and professional resource throughout the program. Whether sharing advocacy opportunities, sharing information about training and workshops, or serving as a sounding board, educators are committed to student well-being and professional development.

Our mentor program is primarily offered online through asynchronous courses, meaning you’ll work independently throughout the week and enjoy the structure that regular dates provide.

Investing In Your Mental Health As Educators
