Instructional design and technology is a diverse field with opportunities for individuals in a variety of eclectic roles all centered around the process of creating web-based instruction. The need for educational technologists is great. The ever-increasing amount of information created each year and the need for more and more learning drives the need for teaching technologists, as well as the ever-changing field of technology.

Our program integrates interactive technologies into educational and corporate learning environments as our students work individually and in teams to design and develop computer-based instruction based on sound theories of learning and teaching. An individual with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college, who has achieved an undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale, may apply for admission to the MSIDT program. Admission requirements include:

International applicants must complete a separate application form for the Office of Graduate Studies and Research and must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 570 on the TOEFL is required for admission to the program.

An individual may begin taking part-time courses in the MSIDT program prior to admission, but completion of such courses does not guarantee admission.

You may apply for a graduate assistantship only after you have been accepted to the M.S. Program in Instructional Design and Technology.

Individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university may become candidates for a bachelor’s degree and continue on to a master’s degree by completing a minimum of 33 – 36 semester hours of coursework culminating in an internship or master’s thesis. All courses last 3 semesters unless otherwise stated.
