The number of clubs, societies and extracurricular activities offered. For such a small university, there really is something for everyone.

New Brunswick Colleges And Universities

The University of New Brunswick is a small school with a beautiful campus just outside the city of Fredericton. The university is the oldest English-language university in Canada, founded in 1785.

Rutgers University New Brunswick

Although the age of the university is reflected in the original brick building, the university as a whole has completed a good project of modernization and maintaining a unique aesthetic. A prime example is the new state kinesiology center that opened last year.

If it’s the physical beauty of UNB’s campus that attracts new students, it’s the small class sizes, caring professors and relaxed atmosphere that often keep it here. The university has a reputation as a party school, but the administration has proposed a new “social standards” policy that limits the sale of alcohol on campus to two drinks per person. It is currently unclear whether this policy will be implemented or changed – unsurprisingly, the proposal was met with significant backlash – but the ongoing push for a policy of limited alcohol consumption is something to keep in mind.

Whoever you are, you’re sure to find a club or community that fits your personality and interests. Add UNB’s friendly, small school feel and you get a place where meeting people and making friends is inevitable.

The Library Cellar and the Hillside Social Club will be two favorite places on campus, regardless of whether they will be allowed to sell more than two drinks in the future. The dorms are easily the best option for dining at UNB, offering above-average dining head and shoulders above other options on campus. The Clubhouse and S Club are both located in the Student Union Building, near most of the residence halls. (My condolences to those who live down the hill at Lady Beaverbrook Residence.)

Schools And Colleges

Fredericton is a small and beautiful city of just under 60,000 people. The skyline is dominated by churches. It can be described as a sleepy and conservative town, but there is much more to it. In particular, Fredericton has an excellent local music scene highlighted by the famous Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival. There is also the Shivering Song Festival, where churches, markets and more are transformed into special concert venues. The city, also known as “Freddy’s Beach,” is home to a thriving craft beer industry with many microbreweries scattered throughout the city.

The Brunswickan will keep you up to date with all the news and happenings on campus and in the community.
