The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has designated the University of New Hampshire as a National Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (IC CAE) with $2.5 million in funding over 10 years. UNH’s master’s degree in national security intelligence analysis provides the skills necessary to succeed in government, the corporate environment, or the nonprofit sector. UNH’s Master of Science in National Security Intelligence Analysis (NSIA) is a 30-credit program designed to be completed part-time over one or more calendar years. NSIA classes provide you with the right content and context to become an analyst. Our primary academic goal for students is a deep conceptual understanding of the intelligence process, current national security issues, strategies, and US and foreign policies. We use case studies and experiential learning a lot in the curriculum. Our second and third academic goals are critical thinking and methodical training. We give you the tools to analyze threats and understand the underlying issues from a qualitative and quantitative perspective.

The Master’s in National Security Intelligence Analysis is offered with two entry points each academic year. Students can choose to enter either August or January each year. Students must take 30 credits consisting of 10 classes. Full-time students can complete the degree in 12 months, taking 2 classes per 5-term calendar year. Part-time students can complete the program in 24 months, taking at least one class per semester. For serious undergraduate students, this program is also available as an accelerated master’s degree.

The NSIA program is designed to be interdisciplinary and applicable. We have designed our program for students seeking a rich understanding of critical thinking and scholarly empirical research grounded in the social sciences and humanities. The NSIA program has four organizational learning objectives:

Students applying for state residency must also submit proof of residency. This form is not required for your application, but you must submit it once you have been offered admission, otherwise you will not be able to register for classes.

UNH’s priority deadline is March 1st. This is the date the FAFSA must be received by the federal processor, but if your application arrives after March 1, you will be considered for a Federal Direct Loan, which has no priority period.
