Google has committed more than $8 million to support small businesses and crisis response through multiple efforts. Specifically targeting small businesses, Google is allocating $340 million to Active Advertising Accounts to help small businesses stay connected with customers and process stay-at-home orders. Verizon Wireless, along with the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), is contributing $2.5 million to provide critical relief and resilience-building support to small businesses facing immediate financial risk from the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will be used to provide grants of up to $10,000, especially to entrepreneurs of color, women-owned businesses and other industries in historically underserved areas without access to flexible, affordable funding. Verizon will highlight and publicize these efforts through their “Pay It Forward Live” online concert series, and as consumers participate online, Verizon will receive an additional $2.5 million in funding, bringing the total donation to $5 million.

The James Beard Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to celebrate, develop and honor chefs and other leaders who make America’s food culture more delicious, diverse and sustainable for everyone.
