Overlapping Layered Cowhide Rug Living Room – Most of the things I do at home are not the result of a well thought out plan where I make decisions based on ideal conditions.
Most design decisions are the result of using what I have while I have it and getting the most out of it. Isn’t that how life works?

I didn’t layer my mattress because that was my master plan. I layer them because I already have rugs that I love and don’t want to buy new ones, and three months ago we moved into a new house with a different shaped family room and my rugs didn’t take up the same area. .

Same in my kitchen. I didn’t put the Ikea cabinet next to the Viking area because I think it’s the “perfect” design choice. I’ve put the Ikea cabinets next to the Viking range as it’s the best choice at the moment for me, a kitchen cash gal who was looking for a Viking to steal. Thank you very much to the girl who paid off the debt. A girl who lives in rented houses with dark kitchens and needs light when she cooks. I may not have gotten a higher range to keep my cabinets in the same league as my stove, but living by that self-imposed rule seems painful.
So now I have a big limitation – lots of rugs and none of them are big enough to cover my room and no rug budget to buy new oversized rugs.
I never start with a blank slate to do anything. And neither do you. Instead of cursing limitations, I’ll embrace them, cling to them even though there are so many beautiful ideas in the world, I need a limit to pull me out of my rut of uncertainty!

Instead of thinking it was wrong or bad without putting lots of cowhides in my family room, I decided to see if I could rise to the challenge of making them work. Because that’s what I have.
I like my bed to be on the floor, sitting at least a few inches from the main mattress. When the couch (against the fireplace wall) sits on top of the herringbone, I get a big gap in front of the fireplace. There is plenty of room left, but I don’t want a floating rug and don’t want to buy a new mattress. Rugs are one of those purchases that I don’t mind splurging on, but if I can reuse a good rug, I’ll do my best to do it.
In the old house, you see how huge the cowhide is? It fit in there well because we had a fireplace in a corner to our left. And the empty space on the right in the picture worked for us in the room because it was a walkway.
Ultimate Guide To Layered Cowhide Rugs In Your Living Room
Since these rugs are thin rugs, layering them on top of each other works great. If this rug has a deep pile, it may look odd or trip someone up.
Our new family room is very small, but it allows me to use cowhide to carry the next part of the space, the dining room.
But they’re still left with a fairly large, empty, rough space on the left. This corner piece of herringbone rug is right where your feet land if you’re sitting on a chair standing in that spot. It was embarrassing. And while I do have plans for a shelf in that corner, and I promise my two matching lamps won’t be so mismatched, it won’t change the texture of my rug.
Living Room Rug Ideas That Will Make Your Floors Look So Much Better
In the meantime I ordered a black and white cow from Joss and Main to come down to the cellar. I’ve always had a great experience with online shopping – now I buy almost all my rugs online, but this time when the rug arrived it was very brown. And even though the description says the color may be different, I thought that since there are other rugs in different colors for sale, it would be arranged as black and white and brown after shipping. For people who click on it. Picture to buy.
Anyway, my carpet was black, brown and white, and it was very, very brown. But he had one advantage – a brand! I hated the imperfections so suddenly I realized I didn’t want to try to send it back because how lucky am I to have a branded mattress!?! Points!
So he got layers on the family room floor. And I’ll admit it feels a little gimmicky right now. This is too much. Lots of contours and fifty shades of brown, even Pangeon. But we cannot stop when the room is 30% complete and something is wrong. Especially when something is paid for and already in the home.

It’s best to go ahead and see how it all looks when it’s done.
…and with our stuff, suddenly my eyes are no longer focused on the precise lines of all the layered cow hides, but instead I see the whole space. It’s cozy, level, lots of nice rugs on my floors. Victory!
The dark cowhide on the left is from Joss & Main, it was $180, which is a great price for cowhide, but it’s also a small leather, and of course I was lucky and was able to use a rug that didn’t look great. . I ordered what I felt.

The skin on the right side is almost twice as large. I bought it online last year during the Rugs USA black friday sale, it was $185, last year they had 75% off many rugs with free shipping!! A really, really great deal! If you want cowhide, this is the best deal I’ve found other than a 3-foot cowhide rug I bought at Metrolina for $60, but I was lucky enough to get a 3-foot rug at a deep discount (no one ever told the world, except me). . My house is kind of an island for useless decorations.
A rectangular mattress in the form of a herringbone is made of pieces of oxide sewn together. This is my favorite mattress. I got mine from Joss & Main (they have a few other versions on sale until the 21st in the Modern Lodge sale). When shopping at Joe’s & Main and some other online stores, double check their return policies, most of the mattresses I buy are non-returnable (and who wants to try to return a mattress by mail?). I tell myself that if I can’t use it, I’ll make sure to buy it for as good a price as I can sell it on Craigslist.

Without layers, the furniture looked like ships lost at sea, floating aimlessly on a wide carpet.
