Master Of Science In Physician Assistant Studies (mspa)
The SCU University Medical Center provides care to more than 45,000 patients annually and is equipped with a comprehensive herbal pharmacy, diagnostic testing and electronic health record systems. PA students train in a modern medical facility with a rich learning environment. You interact with other health care services in training and learn how to lead patients in a collaborative environment within a team environment.
All PA students complete clinical rotations in internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, women’s health (obstetrics and gynecology), general surgery, behavioral medicine, emergency medicine and integrative medicine. Learn more about each conversion.
PA students also choose two electives. Transplantation options include cardiology, dermatology, otolaryngology (ENT), nephrology, orthopedics/sports medicine, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, pain management, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, urology, cardiothoracic surgery, endocrinology, and international radiology.

SCU’s Master of Science: Physician Assistant program will prepare students to participate in collaborative care teams and deliver health care and primary care goals to diverse populations by providing evidence-based education.
The second year is spent on basic clinical rotations, elective rotations, and internships. Providing our PA students with these opportunities is an important part of the foundation of their clinical skills. The starting date for the hospital transfer is the fifth month. The minimum clinical program is 32 hours per week. Students are expected to participate fully in all clinical activities (eg, “on call”, grand circle, journal club).
Each student completes one four-week rotation in each required clinical experience. Optional periods of up to 8 weeks may be available for students in good standing.

At the end of the 4-week rotation in behavioral and mental health, you will have an understanding of common mental conditions throughout your life. Emergency Medicine: You will gain a basic understanding of emergency medicine healthcare. You will work in an approved hospital emergency room to gain exposure to emergency medical topics, focusing on multidisciplinary, acute and acute care across the lifespan. How To Become A Physician Assistant
SCU’s MSPA program is a 28-month program, with 5-7 modules devoted to clinical rotations, elective rotations, and seminars. By serving as a preceptor because we and the students, you play an integral role that contributes to the foundation of their skills. The hospital year consists of 10 hospital rotations – 8 core rotations and 2 elective rotations. Each rotation lasts 4 weeks.
Our program emphasizes a holistic approach, teaching students to use science and research to provide patient-centered health care for the whole person. SCU is the first university to offer a PA program with a focus on social health. MSPA students join other students pursuing a variety of medical careers, including future chiropractors and acupuncturists.
