Bring your ideas and research to life. Prepare for a future in academia or policy-making. Find out how to apply About the course The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is an intensive one-year course that provides a unique approach to public policy learning. This is a transformative opportunity for current and future leaders committed to public service. Taught by leading academics and expert practitioners, you will have a unique opportunity to develop the academic knowledge and professional skills to tackle some of the most complex public policy challenges of this century.
The MPP begins with a carefully planned program of induction activities that provides an introduction to policy making and advice on how to get the most out of the MPP experience. The curriculum for the remainder of the course is delivered over a three-semester series of lectures, seminars, case studies and workshops, and a summer project that provides an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained through the program to a public policy context.
Policy challenges are becoming more complex every day, and public leaders need to be able to draw on expertise from a variety of specialized fields to find innovative solutions. For this reason, the curriculum integrates ideas and approaches from various academic disciplines, as well as modules delivered by renowned policy experts.
You can also tailor your learning to suit your professional needs by choosing from a number of options, as well as deepen your professional and practical skills through modules such as Negotiation, Communications, Private Finance and Design Thinking. You will also further develop your skills and be exposed to real-world policy challenges during a six- to eight-week summer project. MPP students should fully commit to their studies and take responsibility for active participation in all aspects of the program.
