The University of Cincinnati’s Professional Level (Ed.S.) School Psychology Program is dedicated to developing highly capable professional school psychologists following the scientist-practitioner model. In their role, school psychologists work with teachers, families, and other school and community stakeholders to support children’s academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. As a result of a comprehensive education, the UC Ed.S. Graduates are prepared to make significant contributions to this challenging field through professional practice based on the latest research, child and family advocacy and leadership for best practice.

Ed. S. The program includes 3 years of full-time study and 10 months (1500 hours) of supervised full-time training in a school environment. Students complete the Master’s Degree requirements (M.Ed. in Fundamentals of Behavior Analysis) in this three-year program at the end of the first year.
Ms In Counseling Psychology
This professional-level preparation leads to Ohio Department of Education licensure in school psychology. It also meets the educational requirements for the National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP) administered through NASP, aligns with these national standards and meets the licensing requirements of many other states. Graduates also complete course requirements to earn Board Certified Behavior Analyst status. Graduates work as professional school psychologists in schools and other community and educational settings to promote positive academic and mental health outcomes for students.
The School Psychology Program at the University of Cincinnati is based on the core ethical principles that psychologists aim to respect the dignity and worth of each individual and to promote measurable positive outcomes in their work. These principles are set forth in the National Association for Ethical and Professional Practice of School Psychology and Teaching Standards. The University of Cincinnati School of Psychology program emphasizes the use of scientist-practitioner and ecological behavioral models to guide practice, with an emphasis on advocacy for social justice in the application of these core principles. As scientific practitioners, students are trained to critically examine theory and practice, develop defensible models of professional practice, and collect and use data responsibly to make decisions. Using an eco-behavioral approach, students focus on behavior change in critical contexts such as school and family and learn how to work with key individuals to bring about meaningful change in these contexts. Students are also trained to be social justice advocates who promote access to high-quality educational services for all clients and dismantle systems of oppression and marginalization in schools.
